Frequently Asked Questions
What are the worship services like?
The services generally follow a consistent format, including meditation, candle-lighting, music and singing, inspirational readings and messages from our ministers. Services last approximately 45 minutes.
What happens after services?
After service, join us in person for Beacon’s Social Half Hour.
Is Beacon handicap accessible?
The congregation is fully handicap-accessible. We have a ramp into the building and an elevator that can take a wheelchair to any of our three floors. You can also ask one of our ushers for hearing-amplification devices during services.
What does it cost to attend?
You are our guest, and there is never a cost to attend Sunday services. During the worship service, there is an offering for you to contribute. All proceeds help us live out our mission of radical inclusion, feeding the human spirit, and healing the world.
Are there activities for teenagers?
Yes, teenagers are welcome in our Sunday services. Always. In addition, we have a robust youth group for 6th through 8th graders AND 9th through 12th graders that meet on Sunday evening. Please email Tuli Patel for more information or check out the youth section of this website.
How do I know if Beacon is right for me?
Join us regularly. Showing up regularly makes all the difference. That will give you a good feel for what our congregation is all about. Congregations of different denominations and even within a single denomination all have different personalities. At Beacon, you will be in the midst of a vibrant community, grounded in our spiritual lives and values and committed to social justice.
What is involved in engaging more at Beacon?

Where do I park?
We recommend parking in the public parking lots, which are all free on Sundays. The closest is located at the corner of Summit and Deforest Avenues. There is free on-street parking on multiple streets around Beacon on Sundays. Parking on the west side of Waldron Avenue (in front of the building) is limited to two hours from 7 AM to 7 PM every day (a change from 8 AM to 6 PM) and parking is prohibited on the east side. When parking in neighborhoods, please respect our neighbors’ driveways and the fire hydrants.
What should I wear?
Most people choose to dress in ways that could be described as casual or dressy casual. Of course, when we gather virtually, you are welcome to be in your PJs!
